The Central Processing Unit (CPU)
The CPU is the brain of any computer. This component does all the calculations and performs 90 percent of all the functions of a computer. There are many different types of processor on computers today. In a CPU, millions of transistors, diodes and various semi conductor devices are fabricated.
Random Access Memory (RAM)
The
RAM is a fast-access memory that is cleared when the computer is down. RAM
attaches directly to the motherboard, and it is used to store programs that are
currently running. RAM is a set of
integrated circuits that allow the stored data to be accessed in any order.
There are many different types of RAM.
Distinctions between these different types include: writable Vs read only, static
Vs dynamic, volatile Vs non volatile and so on
